"Long live the King" hailed Entertainment Weekly upon the publication of Stephen King's On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer's craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King's advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported near-fatal accident in 1999 -- and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery. Brilliantly structured, friendly and inspiring, On Writing will empower and entertain everyone who reads it -- fans, writers, and anyone who loves a great story well told. (back cover)

Mientras escribo

This paragraph is, I suppose, the disclaimer: I have not read King before, as this is some caution about the "toxic" writing he has done. Right? I dunno, always wanted to pick one of his big books (IT being the first choice), but some reviews about this "memoir" pushed me to it. It's sort of biographical, and sort of what he does for writing. And it makes sense: all his life he wanted to write, and now he practically lives out of it. His writing is what made him right now: a staple, for good or bad, but a renowned author. He tells what he does, his roots, what helps him to keep the craft. And it is, sure, a recollection of some other things some other authors have said (motivation doesn't exists, hard work has to be done; choose a time of the day, do this, do that) that …
