No puedo añadir nada que no se haya dicho ya.

Es una novela autobiográfica, escrita en primera persona y que nos ofrece una comprensión con ojos de niña, la de la niña Maya Angelou, de lo que significa ser mujer y ser negra en la norteamérica del segundo cuarto del siglo XX.

Me fascina la forma en que Maya cambia de registro y transmite a la Maya de cada momento. Ya en las primeras páginas leía a una niña y de repente era una persona adulta la que me contaba, una transición impercetible, pero ahí está en todo momento y después la Maya de los trapicheos, la Maya de la escuela, la Maya que cuestiona su posición en el mundo.

Me apena mucho la imposición blanca que borra de la existencia las culturas negras, tanto que la misma población negra se olvida de sus orígenes, África es un lugar mítico, …
