Bruno, the son of a high-ranking Nazi commandant, lives near the auschwitz concentration camp, which is referred to as a "farm." He becomes friends with Shmuel, a boy wearing striped pajamas, but Bruno's parents find out and are sending Shmuel and his mother away. Bruno grabs a shovel and goes to the camp and he sets into motion a tragic sequence of events.
