Review of 'Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1)' on 'Storygraph'
3 stars
It's fun but it assumes you are a 80-90s nerd like the billonaire Halliday. If you are not you'll miss a lot of references.
It's weird how it says Aich was kinda enpowered hiding her identity as a black lesbian woman behind a white male avatar. Racism and homophobia still exist, and she would have suffered it if she used an avatar like her. Cline doesn't get it.
Also Halliday is pretty much a unquestioned "god" in this universe. He dominated and owned the world basically (when he was alive).
However this book is nice if you want light entertainment.
