An entertaining novel, depicting a complex, interesting universe. I enjoyed the relations between the species, their different scales or values, ethics, morals. It would make a terrific movie,or series of graphic novels about Garudas and khepri. I found the descriptions difficult to follow, but I'm not a native English speaker, and the author is British.
