I really enjoyed the two first stories. They translated me to my infancy, when I loved the stories of Grimm's brothers and Andenser.
I didn't enjoyed the other two longs stories too much. A little too long and a little too naif. The last one it is barely a story...

This is not an easy reading. It took me a lot to get used to the rhythm of the novel and the constant changes between the consciences of the different characters. But in the end, everything adds up and I got engaged. And London... I love when a novel takes me to places that I love but I can't visit as often as I would like.

This is the second time I read this book. I didn't remember anything from the first time, so it was a great rediscovering for me.
The book develops a society where the machines are forbidden and where Mentat are human calculator. The politics and the fight between the different factions make the book really interesting.

Philip Roth: The Plot Against America (2004) 3 stars

I never really engaged with this book. Even when I find the premise really interesting and I can find similarities with today development of politics. The author insists on telling side stories when you are in a very intense moment. I kept wondering "why is he telling me this now?". The end is abrupt and everything is solved in the best possible way almost magically.

This is book very hard to read. It confronts you with all the tricks that the brain uses to reduce cognitive dissonance in order to make you look good to yourself even when the decision you make is not the more moral. Confirmation biass and selective memories are other tricks that the brain uses to allow us to live with ourselves. In the end, you have some advice on how to avoid this kind of behavior.
